So at the Staff Meeting, I was informed that our Staff pages have to be deleted and replaced with a list of recommended books so that we could keep a "professional website," hmm...
This is Public Libraries 101, folks. To be honest, I expected this. While our coursework and many articles in Library Journals emphasize the need to bring the Library staff's personalities into the website to attract the digital community, one must remember that someone who keeps up with these trends will succomb to adversity with those who aren't librarians and those who are, but with traditional methods.
I am deciding whether I should plea my case with the powers that be by collecting articles that argue for this sort of tom foolery, or just go about my business. Welcome to a committee based structure!
Remember that what we learn in school is the ideal, but the ideal has to pass a bettery of tests in the real world.
