My Dangerous Idea

What was that last post? Wow, a totally different person (really, so don't add me to a list of subversives, unless I already am on it) :)

I was inspired by the Daily Show and Colbert Report this morning! Richard Shenkman came out with this interesting sounding book "Just How Stupid Are We?" Interesting fact about me: "stupid" and "mook" are two of my favorite words! The premises is linked to the recent report that we were essentially duped into all of the political faux pas of the last eight years. Shenkman asserts the American public is to blame for not learning more, I can't agree more.

But, with the corporately funded media regulated by the government, sometimes access accurate information slips between the cracks. How do we remedy this?

Let's dig back to Zittrain, and a fellow blogger's post "informationevangelists" discussing Internet freedom. With a little work, a group of trained information scientists (without the interference of corporate sponsors and lobbyists) could come up with an annotated nonpartisan watchdog site of what is going on out there. It would be nonpartisan, just factual and annotated.

Free information and fast-low cost technology could be the wave. Youtube broke Obama into the game, but this could take it further and not letting anybody get away with anything with researched fact, including media darlings and media pariahs.

The checks and balances would be among educated people who aren't paid by a third party who could actually find Iraq on a map! Shenkman quoted Ambrose Bierce "War is God’s way of teaching Americans geography," well, this website would have a map right on it! Share the knowledge on these binary blips, everybody is entitled!
